Tire Pretoria official Government paper “Vaderland,” forecasts early legislation to tax mines and exchange, bn speculators’ profits from the advantages arising from the abandonment of the gold standard, for the benefit cf wage earners and farmers. It expects an attempt to defeat the Government on this issue, which will only be done by the help of traitors. The Nationalist paper considers this is improbable. ’ The South African 'pound is again five per cent, above parity with sterling to-day.
Wool markets are at a standstill,, pending the clearing of the position.
