BOY BITTEN

BY ALSATIGN DOG.

SYDNEY, November 25.

An Alsatian dog, whose brother was shot six months ago for attacking a young man and Ins -mother at. Rydd, n<lar Sydney, rushed at an eight-year-old boy at Elpping recently, and bit him severely about the throat and face, its owner believed that jealousy of the bqy was the cause of- the dog’s attack.

Anthony Passmore was riding a -scooter round the- yard o-f his, parent’s home, when the--dog rushed at him and threw him to .the ground.' The hoy’s terrified calls for help as the dog bit his face and throat brought- his mother from the house. She found the 'dbg, which had withdrawn for a few minutes, making a second attack. She drove it away and hurried the hoy into the house, where she treated l.i? wounds with iodine. As soon as Air Pasts more re-turned home he killed the animal with a-shotgun.

Mr Passmore said that -the attack had not caused him to lose-faith in Alsatians. He said that some responsible authority should thoroughly investigate -the breeding strains of dogs involved in attacks on human beings. He said he believed that the dangerous dogs belonged to some strain that could he weeded out, and that Alsatians could ho rehabilitated in public esteem. He had had the dog for three years, and had noticed that it disliked attention being paid to tire -boy. On several occasions it had 1 nipped the chil'd.
