After rolling fifty feet down a precipitous bank and then, falling over twenty feet into a deep pool, narrowly missing sharp rocks, a woman who was climbing down a cliff overlooking a small baV at Waiheke Island, had a fortunate escape from serious injury yesterday. The woman, Mrs Jula Mundy, aged fortyrtwo, who lives at 34, Prospect Terrace, Ponsonby, received Q nly a scalp wound, a deep cut over one eye and extensive bruises. However, she also suffered severely from shock. Her liushaiid is employed, by the Post and and Telegraph Department. Mr Mundy has visited the island frequently during the past fifteen months to fish,' usually going to the rock-8 in Oklmnaki Bay, between Matiata and Oneroa. After leaving the steamer he and a party (including his wife) walked round the cliffs to the bay, a distance of over a mile, and then commenced to climb down the precipitous bank to a pool between some rocks. There was no track, and Mr Mundy descended first, Mrs Mundy following him. When she ivas a short distance down she lost her footing on the dry gqass, and immediately commenced to slide. Before anybody could grasp her she had gained momentum and was rapidly carried down the slope fifty feet to a sheer fall nto the rocky pool.
