Following the action, on uniforms cabled on June 6th ) the Army authorities have decided to replace the old kitbag -with a pack, of which the lower haljf Is detachable, and can b© left behind when going into battle. The idea is that the new infantryman must run like an athlete across bullet swept zones, from cover to oover. The upper half of the new haversack will include the minimum necessities, ■such as a nfieea tin, an liron ration and a cardigan.
