IN GERMANY VON HINDENBURG AND HITLER. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)
BERLIN, Nov. 22.
It is officially announced that Presiden von Hindenburg will give his decision in the Hitler problem to-day. The prospects of Herr Hitler securing the Chancellorship are now remote. The Catholic Centre Party is far from enthusiastic about a. coalition with the Nazis, while Herr Hugenberg’s National Party are definitely hostile to one.
It is understood that Herr Hitler, at his conference with President Hindenburg asked to be allowed to form a Presidential Ministry, similar to Captain von Papen’s, but President von Hindenburg replied in the negative, saying that only a non-party leader was eligible to form a Presidential Cabinet.
TRAP SET FOR HITLER
LONDON, Nov. 22. According to the Berlin correspondents of several of the London papers, Herr Hitler has already decided that he cannot comply with President von Hinder-burghs conditions, which two of the correspondents describe as a trap. The “Daily Express” says:—“A conclave between Herr Hitler'and his leading supporters has ended in a victory for the “noes.” Herr Hitler has not given a clear refusal. Instead he sent a long letter to the President requesting further -information regarding the conditions, which action is expected to result in a letter to-day definitely refusing.
