Home-brew, which, according to Mr W. E. Leicester, had evidently been mode by some person who had taken a liberal view of the recipe '.vas attributed to be the cause,, of the intoxication of John George Cummings, motor mechanic, aged 27, who appeared before Mr Ei. Pag©, S.M. in the Police Court, when he admitted a charge of being intoxicated in charge of a motor car in Featherston Street. Cummings was fined £2O, and was given one month in which to find the money.. According to* Sub-Inspector Martin, Cummings was noticed, shortly, after 11.30 p.m. on November. 14, trying to lift the bonnet of his ccir in Featherston Street. Haying \'.leaded guilty to. a charge of be jpg. intoxicated in charge of a motor-car in Waring Taylor Street, George Hill, labourer, aged 51, was fined £2O, and his drivler’u license cancelled for 12 months.
Sub-Inspector Martin said that 'accused, at 5.30 p.m. on Thursday, wa« seen to turn from Featherston Street into Waring Taylor Street and drive into another motor-ejar. A constable went to make inquiries, and found that ■accused was intoxicated.. Accused admitted having had some liquor. .'The sub-inspector added that Hill had a previous conviction for a similar charge.
