MONTHLY MEETING. The . monthly meeting of the executive of the Hokitika branch of the 11..5.A. was held evening, when there were present; Messrs A. E. Armstrong (chair), 11. Paterson (secretary), 11. . Appleton. C. Hart, G. A. King, C. Bleach, T. Lynch, / and T. Stuart. Apologia were received for absence from Messrs Brown, Menzies, Gilchrist and Fade. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. •The inward correspondence was dealt with as follows : From Hok.tiKa Fire Brigade asking for a reduction in rental of hall for the smoke concert and ball held recently. It was decided to make the usual charge and at the same time to forward a donation to their funds. From Rangiora R.S.A. acknowledging receipt of moneys for sale of art union tickets. From Christchurch R.S.A. re supply of poppies fcji’ next year.—Received, and the secretary to make the necessary arrangements. From the Melbourne branch of the N.Z.R.S.A. asking for donation, to their funds. —Received, and it was ’ regretted that this branch has no funds available for the purpose,. From the Headquarters advising that an ex-member of tne United States Forces is not permitted to become a member of the N.Z.R.S.A. and the membership is pnly open to ex-mem-bers of His Majesty’s Forces. It was advised that there was no objection to ! any ex-soldier of the Allien Forces becoming an honorary member to the N.Z.R.S.A..* but would not be entitled to the N.Z.R.S.A. badge. From Headquarters, forwarding a confidential copv.of minutes of monthly meeting of Executive. —Received. From the .Tientham Scholarship Fund, advising that they are prepared to assist sons of deceased or disabled ex-servicemen who wish to enter Flock House for training.—Received, j The secretary -reported on proceeds of euchre tournaments. —Received. It was reported that all moneys received from canteen funds, etc... for : the relief of unemployment among exservicemen has now been expended, and no further relief will be available until a further grant i s received. It was decided to make the same arrangements as last year for the ’Xmas tree for ex servicemen’s children. An appeal for relief from an exsoldier was referred to the Patriotic Association. The meeting terminated at 9.30 p.m.
