WINTON J.C. MEETING. THE FIRST DAY’S RESULTS. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) INVERCARGILL, November 18. The Win ton Jockey Club’s annual meeting opened to-day in fine weather. The track was in great order. There was a fair attendance. The tote handled £3,666i as against £4,688*, last year, for eight races. Results: Trial Handicap:—(7) Blazon 1; (4) Fair Vision 2; (2) Glenliam Lark 3. Won by a neck. Time 1.15 4-5. Hohonui Trot:—(1) Just Shandi 1; (3) William Tell 2; (8) Vologda 3. Won by 4 lengths. Time 3.27 1-5. Cup:—(2) Toreador 1; (1) Red Sea 2; (4) The Smuggler 3. Won by J a length. Time 2.8 4-5.
Flying Handicap:—(l) Hula Belle 1; (5) Orubenore 2; (3) Assemble 3. Won by $ of a length. Time 1.15. Barkley Handicap:—(l) Cough 1; (2) Rroughshane: 2; (7) Stronglight 3. Won by 2 lengths. Time 1.15. Otapiri Trot:—<3) Ozanam 1; (7) Young Frank 2; (2) Peter Mitchell 3. Won by 4 lengths. Time 3.34.
Tradesmen’s Handicap—(l) Tippling 1; (4) Consono 2; (2) Steeton 3. Won by 4- a. length. Time 1.29.
