Cr. Murphy asked to be shown the receipt received from Mr G. Cr. Reedy’s amendment now becoming the substantive motion, was declared carried. Cr. Murphy said the Borough" was going from bad to worse. The. rates were not being collected and there was wandering stock tall over .the town. He referred particularly to a butcher’s sheep, running at the top end of Seddon (Street.

Th 9 Mayor said he took/ strong exception to the remarks of Mr Murphy regarding the state of the Borough. When the late Town Clerk was in office, it was quite a common thing for the employees of the Borough to have to wait for ’their money until the license fees were collected, and that state of things .had never happened in recent years. It was resolved that all outstanding rates be 'collected immediately.
