TAIHAPE SHUNTING FATALITY. (Per Press iAssociation — Copyright.) TAIHAPE, October'* 31. Frederick vvil’uam Atkins, enginedriver, was killed at Taihape on Saturday night. H© fell in front of an engine shunting and was pushed along by the dow-catcher, being f badly crushed internally. He escaped the wheels. He died on the way to th© hospital. He was married* with three children, and had been stationed at Taihape for eight years. At the inquest to-day, the verdict of accidental death, with no blame attachable, was returned. He was attempting to tie th© animal ro a. tree.‘when it suddenly attacked him, inflicting injuries of a serious nature. The boy was taken to the hospital at Ternuka. His condition is now reported to be satisfactory.
