SHARK’S ATTACK
ON SURF SWIMMERS AT SYDNEY. MAN TERRIBLY INJURED. (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY,. October SI.V . The first shark attack of the season occurred a-ty Redhead Beach, near Newcastle to-day,, when : Reginald Ogilvie, aged twenty-four years, , the captain of the Redhead Surf Club, was terribly mauled on both of his sides and on one hand. His lungs were perforated. showed amazing pluck. After , beating off the shark, he struggled ashore with blood pouring froth' his wounds, and he calmly asked some friends to attend) to him, "I’m done,” he then gasped and collapsed. -His condition is critical. , Ogilvie is given a fighting chance of recovering. In the previous attacks made by sharks, no victim has shown more bravery than' was exhibited by Ogilvie. He made no complaint, white ambulance men attempted to staunch the blood from his wounds, remarking: "I can see my lungs are gone, but I fell all right.”
