DRUNKEN MAN ARRESTED. CHRISTCHURCH, October' 17. ‘lt is worthy of note that when this man was arrested Ire had £770 5s ,9d in His pocket, ’’ said Senior-Ser-geant Ijox, somewhat drily, in t|he Magistrate’s! Court, this morning, when a first offender was charged with drunkenness. “I would suggest that he was very lucky to have been brought into our care.” “He owes' a deep debt of gratitude bo the police,” commented Mr E. D. Mosley S:M. The. senior sergeant said that the man bad been bailed out, but bad he appeared in Court the speaker would have suggested/ that he should take the Mayor’s. Relief Fund into consideration. Accused was fined 20s in default ‘■wenty-fdur hours’ imprisonment. ‘I presume the fine will be paid,” sin id Mr Mosley, .smiling.
