INQUEST VERDICTS
MT. ALBERT DOUBLE FATALITY. (Per Press Association — Copyright.‘ AUCKLAND, October 17. The inquest concerning the death of George Macfarlane, aged 70, of Mount Albert, and of his housekeeper, Emily Constance Chappell, aged 45, was concluded befc"° Mr Hunt, S.M. Miss Chappell died in the Auckland Hospital on October 6, following on an attack made upon her with a tomahawk by Macfarlane, who, after the attack on the woman, was found with his throat cut. His death occurred on October 9.
“It is a very sad case,” remarked the Coroner, must find that this unfortunate woman died at the hospital, the cause of her death being wounds inflicted by George Macfarlane when in a state of insanity. In connection with Macfarlane, I find that he committed suicide by cutting his throat while insane.”
