CONVICTS SHOT
ALABAMA PRISON EPISODE. (United Press Association--By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MONTGOMERY (Alabama), October 16. One convict was slain and 23 were wounded by gunfire at the Speigner prison on Sunday, when at attempt to escape made by sixteen convicts was followed hv a general uprising, in which more than half of the prison’s population of nine hundred and fifty participated.
