POLICEMAN BURGLAR
A DOUBLE LIFE. FIVE. YEARS’ GAOL. LONDON, October 14. William Doyle, who served 23 years in the Cambridge Police Forc e and fought iu the South" African War and Great War, was sentenced to five years ■penal servitude for' burglary and larceny. It wag revealed that Doyle had liven a Jekyl.l and Hyd e existence for the past two years. He was a zealous constable -in the daytime and a systematic burglar at nigfil's. He used a police set- of duplicate key® ostensibly to examine and protect business premises and instead stole wine, women’s clothing, a. .wireless' set, watc-hes and money.
It has just been discovered that fingerprints takeu in a burglary in 1930 were Doyl-e’-s. Several innocent shop assistants had been suspected of Doyle’s crimes.
