CHRISTCHURCH, October 14. The Baptist Conference was continued.
On the reeomendition of the Baptist Union Council the Assembly decided to appoint Rev. J. J. Carlisle of Invercargill as Daminion evangelist for twelve months. Rev. Carlisle epxressed the intention of conducting positive evangelism, without trespassing upon >lie- rights of others.
An evangelistic committee consisting of J. R. Carey (Chairman) Rev. L. J Boulton Smith, E. N. Goring, Messrs Ernest Nees, and A. T. Kelly will control this department of union activity. The executive committee of the Baptist Union is Rev. North (president), Messrs F. W. Gaze, W. J. Bardsley. Bev. Lascelles (secretary). Rev. W. E. Bernbird, J. J. Boulton Smith, A. AY. Stuart, Messrs J. R, Carey, F. W. Horner and AY. H .Newton. The young peoples’ department report stated that Avondale Baptist Sunday School, Auckland. had won the shield for the highest percentage of marks in the annual scripture examination.
