PROFESSOR COPLAND

appointaient explained. WELLINGTON, February 25. It is understood that only brief reference was made at the Coalition caucus to the exchange question and this was in answer to an inquiry as to why Professor Copland hacl been appointed as a member of the Economists’ Committee. Air Forbes explained that the committee had been set- up to report not only on the exchange position, but as well on the general economic and budgetary situation. It was felt, in view of the part taken by Professor Copland in a similar Inquiry in Australia, that his experience and advice would be of value to* New Zealand on the present occasion.
