An allegation that, while in a bookmaking business wi’lli l’bilbp Fielding Farnworth, aged 40 ye-.trs, he bad paid Farnworth £2O to bribe two defect-vex. w-as, made by Charles Suthor Lees in tlu* Police Court to-day. Farnworth was charged with obtaining £2O by false representation. Levs said in evidence that FarnworKi had fold him that it was necessary that they should be i immune from police interference. He paid the money in February. 1930, and only recently learned that I'uinwmd h bad not paid i] to the pol.ee officers, (proceeding).
