DEEP-SEA ANGLING

SOME GOOD CATCHES. WHANGAROA, Feb. 15.

Deep-sea anglers have had good sport this month at the Northern fishing grounds. A striped marlin, weighing 3291 b, the largest yet caught at Whangaroa, has been landed by Mr 1. H. C. Caughey. Mr J. Mar,scion Caughey Itivs landed two striped marlins ot 233tb and 2001 b.

Among the other good catches are striped marlins of 2661 b and 2301 b. and „ malm shark of 32011. by Mr R. B. Watson, of Walton ; makos of 2671 b and 21,.; b by Mr L. Heard, of Parnell, Auckland ; a 2521 b hammerhead shark bvAlr C. Stewart, of Singapore. The weather has been unfavourable for the past few days, but swordfish are about in large numbers.
