With the idea of impressing on 1 the school children in the VVaitemata Power Board's area the danger of Hying kites mar power lines, the board recently decided to write to the borough coun<".!s. the County Council and the schools iri bho district, and to advise the head masters of schools that members of the board will be pleased to address children if that course is thought desirable. The matter was mentioned by Mr O. Trevithick. who said kites got tangled in power lines all over the district. Through the centre of the kite-flying area of Devonport, the domain, there ran lines carrying 11,000 volts. He suggested that if, ou a wet day, a hoy’s kite got tangled with the electin' wires iho boy might get such a shock that he might be killed. "When a boy gits his kite tangled he pulls on the string to try to get it down,” said Mr Trevithick. “There is the danger then that two line; will he pulled together, and if that happened a short circuit might he causid. I think a letter should be sent to head ; masters of schools. In fact, I would j be prepared to go round the si hoots in my district and warn ill rhildivn myself.”
