Richardson made a breezy fifty. thre'e, which included two sixes, and this score, with Nitsclike's stolid sixtytwo, provided a good start. The tailelldars, however, failed dismally. The South Africans made a good start, scoring 178 for one wicket. Christy batted magnificently and Jtylishiy, hitting out at all of the bowlers. He made his -seventy-four in seventy minutes, hitting two sixes and eight fours. He was fearless against Grirnmett, compiling nineteen including two sixes, in one over off him.
