BLAZE AT OTAUTAU. £12,00 DAMAGE DONE. INVERCARGILL, January 7. An extensive fire occurred at h vw o’clock this morning in the business centre of Otautau, resulting in the detraction of the following premises:— Pulley’s wool and skin store. Hazlett’s motor garage. Mason’s tobacoonist shop. Wesney’s wholesale and retail jewellery- and fancy, goods. Harrington’s grocery and drapery store. M’Ewan’s tea rooms, Tho outbreak started in the tea rooms. The loss is estimated at £12,000. Mrs M’Ewan and her daughter were luckily awakened by a pet cat, and escaped in their night attire.
