DECREASE IN DISEASE.
By Telegraph—Per Frets Association ]
WELLINGTON, January 6,
The Director of Public Hygiene, Dr. McKibbin, stated that during 1929, the total number of infectious "diseases notilied was 11,335 as against 7.238 cases in 1930, and 5445 in 1931. “This cut of 50 per cent, since 1929,” lie added, “is a budget balance of no mean magnitude in a direct saving of notification fees paid out, lessened inspection costs, reduced public hospital maintenance expenses. The saving to householders who escaped these visitations is ever greater, and. indirectly, the freedom of some of these diseases upon children and adolescents will ultimately benefit public health.”
