Coincident with a drop of professional and other condemnations of the mutilation of English in American .ilms, the “Daily Herald” announces ;hat at least two hundred talkies, •csting £2,500,000, are being made in Iritish studios in 1932. Every company is extending its space, and two ’mgo new studios are being planned.
BRITISH SEX NOVELS OVERDONE
LONDON, Jan. 7
The “Daily Express,” after an investigation of Christmas sales, suggests that sex novels have fallen sharply into disfavour, owing to the audneitv whereto they have hitherto aimed. Simultaneously, there is a revival in the demand for good fiction, science, and biographies.
NEW BRITISH FABRIC DYES LONDON, Jan. 5.
'‘‘We are now making 93 per cent of our own dyes compared with 20 per cent before the war. There is no reason why the women of the world should not regard Britain as the centre of the world’s fashion.” declared Mr Colville (Under-Secretary for Overseas Trade), at the British Colour Council’s luncheon, at which there was a magnificent range of new British spring colours, including flame-poppy, forestergreen, carmine, angora-red, sapphire billiard green, and three striking degrees of purple. All these have already been applied to every article of women’s wardrobes.
