THOUGHTS OF THE TIMES.

SOCIALISM. Socialism is supposed to be the real objective of the Labour Party. Its general secretary, Mr, Walter Nash, recently reminded us of the fact and the first plank in the party’s, platform is “the socialisation of the means of production, distribution and exchange.” But there is not a word of its goal in the party’s manifesto published to day. “Socialism” or “socialisation” is never once mentioned. The theory has not been dropped, however. Its omission at this tirne is the usual election soft-pedalling. —The Dominion.
