RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) THURSDAY, NOVEMBER sth. A- concert by the Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen's -Association Orchestra and Concer Party will be broadcast by 2YA. The vocalists for the evening will be Mr H. Matthews (baritone); .Mr Gar. 'Naylor (tenor) Mrs Glen. Clayton (soprano) and Mrs E. As till (contralto). The lecturer during the International Programme at 3YA will be Mr VY Machih, speaking on “International Exchange.”
This evening, IYA will relay from the Lewis Eady Hall a concert by the Leys Institute Orchestra, under the direction of Mr Harold Baxter. This orchestra is one of the many activities of the Leys Institute and, as usual, a very fine programme has been prepared. Silent day at 4YA. ' FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6th. Of particular interest on lYA’s programme this evening wifi be the appearance of the band of the R.M.S. “Rangitiki.” This band has delighted listeners before from IYA and recently performed most acceptable at SYA and ’2YA. Other instrumental items on the programme will be given by the Moore Sisters’ Trio, Eric Bell (novelty pianist), and Eric Waters and Ray Jury (in novelty xylophone and piano items). The Asquiths 1 whl give twenty minutes of novelty entertainment and vocal solos will be heard from Miss Edith Whittaker (soprano) and Air Morris Schroeder (baritone).
Contributing to a 2YA studio concert, the Orchestrina will play a varied programme. The vocal portion will be given by the popular Melodie Four. 'Messrs Seaton and Soal (guitar duo), newcomers to 2YA, will play favour.te airs.
Mr W. Kershaw, the Dunedin bass singer, engaged by the Royal Christchurch Musical Society for the performance of “Faust,” last Wednesday evening, will be 'sing'ng |in 3YA Studio. Mr Kershaw is an outstanding artist. His numbers will' comprise “The Erl >X|ng,” “Sapphic Ode” and <> “Bonnie Dundee.” Miss Betty Hilliard, who has been very successful at recent competitions, will also sing. Mr George Titcliener will provide humour and -Miss Maisie Ottey wile contribute some pianoforte novel t’es. An orchestral programme will be provided by the Studio Octet, under Mr Harold Beck. From 9.30 to 10 p.m. there will be a gramophone lecture-recital, “In Lighter Vein,” by Mr Karl Atkinson. This evening, 4YA has set out to provide a ‘variety entertainment’ and will aclreve it with, the following: Xylophone items (Mr W. J. Sinton), veiitriloquial humour (Dr D. Eggers), accordeon items (Air Ted Heaney), musical saw items (Mr W. Carey), baritone (Air Noel H. North), soprano (Miss Tui Salt), mezzo-contraito .(Mss M. Fenton), and tenor solos (Mr D; Lyons).
