CHARGES AGAINST SOLICITOR

W ELLINGTON, July 17. dirges brouglifehy ’ the .Ne>v ZwUawl 'Law- Society, agaiinat Hinlop, solicitor, were further adjourned to* day until the next session of the Court of Appeal, the practitioner being suspended from practise in the meantime. ASSAULT CHARGE. IS IT A MENTAL CASE? DUNEDIN, July 17. At the City Police Court to-day, i young man, David Wilson Forsyth, appeared before Mr H. W . Bundle, S.M., charged with having, at Ocean View, near Brighton, . assaulted John Arthur Belsey, a taxi-driver,' with intent to commit a crime and to do him actual bodily harm by hitting him on the head with an axe.
The case took a peculiar turn when the accused, who had previously made a full confession to' the police, pleaded not guilty. Thereupon his solicitor, Mr A W. Haggitt, withdrew from the case. The accused wa,s committed for trial, the Magistrate ordering that be be kept under observation at the Mental Hospital in the meantime.
