RADIO PROGRAMME

FRIDAY, JULY 17th. A .very interesting programme has been arranged by IYA this evening. It is full of variety. The Laloma Quartet, consisting of Islanders, who have toured Australia under engagement to ihe Union Theatres, will be heard in several delightful melodies. Mrs Stella M. Hall (soprano) and Mr Morris T. Schroeder (baritone) will be singing. The Snappy Three will be heard in several of the latest ballads and Miss Dorothea Ryan will entertain at the piano. Mr C. 'S. Lewis will give two clarinet solos from his extensive repertoire. Featured on the evening’s programme from '2YA, will be Mr E. Macpherson, exponent of the banjo. This artist has the reputation of being one of the foremost soloists in Australasia, and has appeared before the microphone at all the A Class stations in the Commonwealth. Miss Gwlatjlys Edwardes (soprano) will again delight listeners, this time with a cycle of songs by Aruudale. 'Mr Claude Moss will be heard in three songs with orchestral accompaniment. : The Sketchers” will present two .humorous items, and there will be a programme by ihe Orchestrina. The vocal portion of 3YA’s programme will be provided by the Valencia Quartet, in solos and concerted numbers. The solos will include a number of favourite songs which will be sung to orchestral accompaniment. A programme ot popular orchestral music will be provided by he .Studio Octet. The evening’s programme will conclude with a half-hour gramophone lecture-recital by Mr Karl Atkinson on “Some Famous Voices.’’ The vocalists for 4YA’s concert, which will be a very varied and popular one, will be Miss Rita Holmes (soprano), Miss Pearl O’Neill .(mezzo-soprano), Mrs A. H. Ritchie (contralto), Mr D. D. Fogarty (tenor), Mr A. Snell (baritone), Mr James A. Paterson (Scottish humour), Mr A ,'H. Pettitt (pianist) and a trio consisting of Miss 'll. Garland and Messrs A. H. Pettitt and T. Law.

SATURDAY, JULY 18th. A concert by the Auckland Municipal Hand will be relayed from the Town Hall by IYA this evening. The Wellington Y.M.C.A. Optimists Club will provide 2YA's programme. Listeners are all familiar with 'he type of programme presented by this bright and breezy club, an'd this evening’s'entertainment will be no exception to the l’ule. In conjunction with the Optimists will be the Salon Orches ra, under Mr M. T. Dixon, to be heard in selections such as : “Sanderson’s Popular Songs/’ “Country Dance Tunes,’’ “Jack O’ Lantern,” "Valsc Migudnne,” "Pale Moon,’’ •Ripples,” the concert waltz "Amourette’’ and the latest dance novelties. “The Sultan of Ju-ju-Land,” a comedy with an eastern atmosphere, will be prohired in 4YA. S udio and broadcast by 3YA and 4YA. It is an ■entertainment • ilh many novel features and sparkhs with fun and humour. The revue has been arranged by Mr W. B. Lambert and he will direct its presentation. The church services to be broadcast to-morrow evening will be; IYA.—Pitt Street Methodist Church. Preacher, Rev. W. T.
