Air Alexander (First Lord of the Admiralty), announced that the King had awarded Petty Officer Wills the -Albert Medal, in gold, in recognition of his bravely in commotion with the loss ol the submarine “Poseidon,”, off Wei-liai-vvei. •. i • The lying also awarded the. medal of the Order of the British Empire (Alilitary Division), for their meritorious ; services to A. B. Vincent- Nagle, and. to A.,8. Edmund G. Holt. . Air. Alexander added that - Petty Officer Wills was offered promotion to Warrant rank., .but. he. preferred , to. be rated as Chief Petty Officer, and Ins promotion—to -Chief Petty- Officer, had been. confirmed from the same date. The promotion has been approved of leading seaman Clark to he Petty Officer and of A: B. Nagle and A. 13. Holt to lie leading seamen. In a statement to the House of Commons last week, Mr Alexander described the submarine collision. Chief Petty Officer Wills took charge of the men trapped An; the forepart and organ ised 'their'escape with great coolness and ability.
