TRIBUTE COAL
EMBARGO NOT LIFTED.

WELLINGTON, July 16.
The telegram from Westport which appeared in the ovening papers here to-day, stating that the Alliance of Labour, had telegraphed to Mr Hayward, thd President of the West (’oast District Miners’ Council, advising him that the Alliance had instructed the waterßiders to J-ift the embargo on Charming Creek and Cascade coals. On the message being brought under the notice of the Secretary of the Alliance of Labour, Mr J. Roberts s he stated no such telegram had been sent to Mr Hayward, and the information contained in the telegram from Westport was absolutely contrary to fact. Negotiations between officers of the Alliance of Labour and the Government were still proceeding in connection with the dispute.
