THE COUNCIL. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 15. The Legislative Council met yesterday. Captured (prohibition of shooting) Bill, (Mr Thomson) was introduced and read a. first time. Unemployment Amendment Bill was received: from the House and read a first time. THE HOUSE. j?’ In the Ho-u~e of Representatives, notice was given of intention to introduce the following Bills—Rent Restriction Extension (Minister of Labour); Amusement Tax Amendment (Mr Barnard), Invalids Pensions (Mr O’Brien). Replying to Mr O’Brien. Mr Smith said he would see if it were possible for the Unemployment Board to arrange for relief work in isolated districts. Chtristchurch Tramway District Amendment Bill (Mr McCombs) and Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill (Mr Fraser) were introduced and read a first time. Transport Licensing Bill was read a second time pro forma and referred to a special select committee;' consisting of Messrs Veiteh, AnselL Bron’dfoot, Clinfcard, Harris. Healey, Jull, Mason, Rullivnn and- Williams. Resuming the Addreas-ln-Repy Update Hon. P. A. die la Perrelle referred to the efforts being made to extend New Zealand’s trade in Dutch East Indies and a|so to the visit of the New Zealand Trade Commissioner in Sydney (Mr L, J. Schmidt) to Singapore. Mr Schmidt had cabled to the Government last week saying he had gone closely into the question of trade relationship between India’s and Dominion and it was confidently expected much good would result from his mission. The debate was continued until the adjournment of the House at 10.10 p.m. -
