AN EXEMPTION
FROM THE WAGE CUT. (By Telegraph—Ber Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 19. An amending, order to the Mouu Mechanics Award will be issued by tue Arbitration Court to provide joj the exemption "of the assistants employed under the award from the provisions of the General Order reducing wages by ten per cent,. Judge Frazer made this announcement in the Arbi-/ tr avion Court to-day.
NELSON COUNCIL MODERATE. NELSON, June 19. The Nelson City Council has made a cut of five per cent, in all of its salaries and wages, with the. following exceptions: The cut shall not affect the full time employees who are in receipt of less than £lO4 per annum. The cut shall hot affect the wages of tnese who, although not working under an award, would, by a five per cent, reduction, be. reduced in wages neiow the amount received by those affected by the ten per cent, cut' when working elsewhere under an award. The whole question is to be renewed at the end of the financial year. The resolution becomes operative on July Ist.
