REPLY TO MR HOOVER. *; (United Press Association—By Eleotrlo Telegraph—Copyright) WASHINGTON, June 17.'Senator Walsh’, who was the -investigator of the oil- scandals, has commented 1 on President Hoover’s recent statement ; that during- the scandals of the late- .President Harding’s administration,- he was betrayed by a few whom he trusted, and who betrayed the country, that being the tragedy of Warren Harding’s life.. Senator Walsh inferentia.lly charged President Hoover with a dereliction • oi duty when as- a member, of the Harddng Cabinet, he had not exposed the crookedness that was then existing in high official, circles. Senator Walsh drew attention to Mr Hoover’s assertion that betrayal by hi s friends was a contributing cause to ex-President Harding’s death, and he declared that jt was injudicious for the President to now make such a disclosure.
