Commonwealth securities all declined to-day 2s 6d to 27s 6d due to the in nouncement that New South Wales would further default, and the lack if confidence in the Federal Governnent’s financial policy. INCOME TAX PAYMENTS. SYDNEY, April 30. Replying to a question in the As•■embly* Mr Lang said he hoped soon to ntroduce an aniendent whereby income tax would be payable as it was earn'd; Thus the burden would not be illowed to accumulate over a period of twelve months, causing hardship as is iften the case now.
GOVERNOR ON POLITICS(Received 11.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 30. The Telegraph’s. Melbourne correspondent says:—-Lord Somer'fi, Govern or of Victoria, surprised his audience at the Gippsland Shares Conference by departing from the traditional Vice-Regal reserve ami offering comment on politics and finance. Though he did not actually name the Premier of New South Wales his criticism could be directed to no other politicin n. His Excellency said that there was money waiting for outlet hut who was going to lend money to a man win says:—‘‘l don’t think I will he able to pay you back.” There is only one man who has said this.
