Tn a contest for the professional lightweight- championship of the Dominion, Tommy Donovan (challenger) of Waitara, beat Harry .Johns (holder), of Auckland. The fight went the full fifteen rounds, Donovan gave a strenuous exhibition, forcing the pace throughout. There was a crowded house and the decision was unpopular. many expecting a draw. WIN FOR THOMAS. WELLINGTON, March 24. At the end of a fit teen round b<r*-» ing match at the Winter .Show staillum last night, the decision went to -Joey I’hoimis, who .showed all round superiority over Bobby Blay whom he kept well occupied. Thomas proved himself a most resourceful fighter, and led coiitinuosl.v from the beginning to end. The verdict was a popular one.
