(Received Litis day at S ,i.m.) SYDNEY, ARueh 24
A grave political situation was created by the action of the Governor, Sir Philip Game, refusing to make additional appointments in tile Legislative Council.
Mr Lang approached the Governor at a spedsil Executive Council meeting and requested the ne<-( esary appointments o! Labour nominees to the Council to assure the passage of his Policy .Measure.
His Excellency subsequently despatched an official reply to Cabinet that he' was unable to accede to the demand.
Air Lang it was learnt in Ministerial circles, will immediately communicate with the Imperial Government and request the recall of the Governor.
It is understood His Excellency declined to make the appointments for the reason that the Government lias not put forward sufficient reasons why he should accede to their request. The Government’s application followed the action in the Legislative Council of referring the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill to ft (-elect committee, The Government, accepted the decision in the nature of a challenge, and in the application to the Governor pointed out that Council was impeding their Legislative programme.
