Devoreux, an Australian wool growers representative,- reports the great animation in prices for all descriptions is well maintained, and British buyers continue to lead the way. Them is an increase in continental competition. France. Belgian and Germany securing a share of the offerings. The withdrawals are negligible. Rumours are current that there are possibilities that- the budget may mclude tiie imposition of an import duty on manufactured goods for revenue purposes. This, although considered somewhat doubtful, combined with the increasing activity of trade in Yorkshire, is stimulating British buyers. The strong position continues to affect the Bradford market. Merino cross-bred tops have again advanced, and business done at the increased prices. As a result uf the strong market there is a cheery tone. Prices of tops in Germany have improved and there were considerable sales of merino and crossbred. Belgian .reports are Fairly satisfactory, tops moving freely. At Antwerp, the futures market was active and quotations advanced. Tops in France advanced to the same extent as the other centres. There was good advances at Roubaix and the fixtures market is active at an advance of five per cent.
