CAM BRIDE WINS, limited Riioj Bi iidouLrn. leiegiapn Cupy iigl.i-. LONDON March 21. The Varsity uoat race was decided to-day. Oxford won the toss, ami coos.the Middlesex side of the Thames. Tim wind was due south, butt it was moderate. c ambridge w/re a few feet ahead in the first few minutes, and they maintained a slight lead for a mile, where Oxford closed up, but Cambridge, entering the .second mile, steadily increased their lead to three-quarters ol a length. . 'Then Oxford again increased U< ir rate, but Cambridge bad stili a slight lead ad Hammersmith bridge. They had a lead of 0II(. length at one and tinvequarter miles, which was maintained at two miles. Oxford’s continual .struggle to hold the leadens now told, and they became ragged. Cambridge. rowing well within themselves, wciv 2j lengths in the lead at the 2) miles and were 31 lengths ahead at tli ( * 3j miles. The Oxford crew, though very tiled, made a desperate effort when approaching tins four mile mark, and they gradually crept up to within two lengths of Cambridge, hut Brockfehanlc, keeping Cambridge well together spunted near the finish, and won convincingly. All the members of both crews arc from English public schools.
