Today the guests at the Lincoln Motel were terrified when her brother strangled a woman, went mad and ran about the building screaming of murder and of his niece’s suicide. The guests fled. The police arrived to find the house detectives were exhausted in trying to control the maniac, who was finally removed unconscious to the Bellevue Hospital. Statu Governor Roosevelt has announced that lie will hold an immediate investigation into the charges tiled by aroused citizens to the effect that New York’s District Attorney, who is handling the vice investigations, is “ineom potent.” Mayor AVnlker. on whom citizen groups and newspapers are calling to assume the leadership in the control of the matters, states that they have shocked him “more or less.” He has announced that he is leaving for a month’s vacation in California.
