It was reported on behalf of the Northern Group that the total collections for the year had been £1125, whereof £213 had been paid to the Westport Borough and £64 7s to/the Inangahua County. There was a further adjustment to be made with the latter body, and the balance of the amount collected would be payable to the Buffer County. It was resolved that the allocation for the Central and Southern Groups be on the same basis as last year, excepting that Kumara Borough receive £l2O net. The Grey County representative intimated that in view of the Coast road traffic, that after Ist December when the . regular motor pasenger service would operate, an amount equal to the traffic fees from the four cars garaged at Greymouth would be required to be deducted from the Northern Group payments. y It was resolved to again ask the Highways Board to subsidise the cost incurred in maintaining a traffic inspector covering the highways traffic. A suggestion was made for the local bodies to take a tally of traffic during the year, so as supply definite information regarding the volume passing over local roads. The proposed \imended regulations covering the issue of motor drivers’ licenses was referred to the each local bodies to make their reports to the Transport Board. The same course to be pursued when the amended heavy traffic regulations to be proposed, came forward. The salary of the Clerk was • fixed at £4O for the year.
