HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
I FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th
.The Council met at 7.30 p.m. Present:—Messrs G. A. Perry (Mayor). T. W. Duff, Fa W. Heenan, ]>. J. Evans, J. King, A. C. Armstrong, and G. Heinz. (Apologies were made for the absence of Dr Teichelimmn and Air Elcock . *. r, The minutes v.ere conlirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From New Zealand Refrigerating Coy., advising the following quantities of meat were delivered into Hokitika during August, 1930:—viz: 215 sheep; and forwarding a cheque for £lO 15s, abattoir fees.—Received. From the Public Trustee, Wellington, forwarding the Council Debenture (Coupons for Interest due on the Ist September, 1900:—Debentures No 17, Coupons. No 31.—Received. From Town Clerk, Rotorua, re Conference of Delegates, 1930—Received. From the Chairman, No. 12 District Highways Council, Greymouth, forwarding schedule of amounts approved for expenditure on maintenance of Alain Highways in No. 12 District ifor the current year. (The amount of subsidy for Hokitika Borough ' being £250, £2 for £1). —Received. From Manager, Kanieri Electric Ltd., application for ' permission to install a projecting doorstep at premises in Weld Street.—Received. The Council had no power to grant the request. From Taylor and Cummings, Revell Street, application under Section 54 of tre Health Act for permi-sion to stove hides at rear of butcher’s shop in Revel 1 Street.—Received ; referred to Health Inspector. From George Montagu, Weld Street, asking that open drain from Section 1260 to. Rolleiston Street he deepened sufficiently to allow sufficient fall for household drainage from his section. Received; .'.referred to Works Committee. From Westland branch of the Automobile Association asking if solicitors fees in undefended court cases could be ; dispensed with.—Received: after' discussion tlie Mayor moved that ■ the Council regretted they could not interfere in the present procedure. The Mayor moved that the £4O donated; by -the R S. A. -be accepted and the Government he asked for a subsidy, the work of pipe making 1o be carried on. Seconded by Air Evans and carried.
Air Heenan referred to the question of a light at the corner of Beach Styeet'.-Mt was resolved that power lie given the former committee to attend to the matter. The Council rose at 8 p.m.
