MISSING MEN

It is almost certain that a double dfbwmfig fatality lias occurred in R-angi-tikei river below Bulls, as so far no news has been heard of the whereabouts of: two young Bulls residents, Victor (jfuiuari aged 22, single, and his brothel in-law; C’olin Campbell aged 25, whose wife child also live at Bulls. it^appears that the young men left Scott’s at daylight on Monday morning in an open boat, 16 foot long, fitted with 3i h.p. engine, with the intention- off fishing outside Rangitikei Heads. They were seen to cross the bar: and at about 10 a.m. were observed fishing some miles out at sea, in linp with Tanimoano river, which was in hlgllfiood at the time, but apparently they-.were not cognisant of the danges.?* V/Later on they were missed and yfherifftlfey had not returned at 4 p.m., fdfiAtteSlit the ferry became anxious anil rafter telephoning news to town, proceeded to Moano Roa beach. They may have swam ashore higher up the beach but both were stated to be poor swimmers, and hopes ffor their survival are very faint.
