AT RAILWAY SHEDS. (By Telegraph —Press Assooiat-on). AUCKLAND, August 11. All of the, casual hands, 73 in number, who are employed in the Auckland inward and outward railways goods sheds, received notice to-day that they would no longer be treated as, ••permanent casuals”, with the guarantee of 4S hours’ work weekly, but they would be placed on the list of “emergency casuals,” and called upon when required. These men receive a wage of Is lOd an hour, and the-guarantee has assured them of a wage of C l 8s per week. The effect of the notice will be to institute a system of short time, under which,' presumably, all . will be treated alike. The alternative would line been'to discharge, say, twenty of the men;:
