The New Shipping ’ Comany’s lilier, Remuera, which made her maiden voyage to New Zealand in 1911, lias sint:e then made forty-five additional voyages. Taking it that the vessel covers 24,000 miles on each voyage she has; during the time that she has been running between the United Kingdom and New Zealand, travelled something like 1,104,000 miles. She does hot appear to be at the end of her career by any means, for she remains one of the company’s most favoured ships. Her first chief engineer was 'Mr Somerville, now superintending engineer for the company at Liverpool. Some years ago, while-the: vessel was en route from Southampton to Wellington, the Remuera collided -with the Ellerman-'Wil-son liner Margeno off Portland Bill in a thick fog, but she' reached Portland safely. At the time she had Mr “Pussyfoot” Johnson as a passenger in addition to 446 immigrants arid 117 saloon passengers. '
