The death took place, at Westland Hospital yesterday afternoon after a Jong illness of William Scott, second son of the late Mr and Mrs Andrew .Scott, former residents of Tgncred Street. Deceased who was 52 years of age, was a native of Hokitika’, being born at South. Spit. As a young man he was employed at the hardware business of Johnston and Co. but- later went to sea, and for a long period was in the employ of the U.S.S; Co. Upon the retirement of his father from the position of harbourmaster, he returned to Hokitika, and was appointed to his father’s position, and in that capacity was in the employ of the local Harbour Board for some years. Deceased was a kindly man, of quiet disposition, and many friends will regret, his passing. He leaves a wife, (Nurse Scott of Christchurch), also five sisters, Mrs A. Thomas of Arahura, Mrs D. Healy Dunedin, Mrs Moore and Mrs Tuffin, Wanganui, and Miss K. Scott of Hokitika, to whom the sympathy of all will be extended in their bereavement. The funeral took place privately this afternoon.
