PETROL TAX
. f ' INJUSTICEtAIIeGED. 7 T (By Telegraph—Per Prm Association.) /.WELLINGTON, Aug. 8;7 One of the main" questibnfe discussed by the Executive of the Municipal Association to-day was the increased petrol tax. The Executive was ver,}greatly concerned that no allowance is being made for boroughs and cities to participate in the increase of 3d per gallon, and that the .8 per cent which was allowed cities and 'borougs under the old petrol tax was ridiculously small in view of the fact that over 90 per cent of the tax .is collected in the cities and boroughs. that 1 they should receive no share whatever of the additional tax, the greater part of which would still be f'oJl-lected from cities and boroughs, was manifestly unfair. Hope was expressed that the Government would give consideration to the whole matter. ’ • T/T
