Haddon, a close| associate of the late Sir Maui Pomlre in Maori reform movements arid-other fields of endeavour, lias been peystjaded to accept nomination and .accept- the vacant seat in the Western Maori electoral district. Inquiries, which were made to-day, show that this .decision will! probably mean that three candidates will enter the field. Ratana -.followers have selected a cananother prominent Maori Taite" Topio, of Taupo, lias also accepted nomfriV-tion. The Rev. Mr Haddon is superinten- • dent -of-' the Methodist Maori Missions arid- Ms been engaged as a minister for 'the past 30 years. A great influence 'Wilf 'be wielded by the lead of Te Rata, the accepted “King” of the Waikato ' tribe, and big conferences arc now being held at the Waalii Pa in slie Waikato. Princess Te Puea, of Waikato, it is stated to have infltSated that she will give her support candidate if the nomination 1 lV clear cut. •
