WELLINGTON, July 11. The annual meeting of the Racing Conference- delegates was held to-day, Mr Watkins (Vice-President) in the Chair. Tlie first business was the election ol a, President in succession to the late Sir George Clifford and on the motion of Mr A. E. Campbell and seconded by Mr J. H. Perrett, Mr Watkins w;i/s elected. Mr H. O. Nolan (Auckland) was electeu Vice-President a'n/d Mr McKellar (Ohristehurcli). was re-appointed auditor.

Permission, was granted Auckland to use different kind of hurdles l'royi the regulations.. The fence, owing to the unusual nature of tlie soil at Auckland, stakes cannot be driven and feet have to he attached to keep the hurdles steady. Birclnvood Hunt, Oanuiru Jockey. South Canterbury Jockey, Ashburton County (and- Greymouth Clubs were granted permission to have trotting events on their programmes.

AV. J. Burnett arid C. CJ. 1 Murphy were both refused remission, of the remainder of their terms of disqualification. ‘£ne reports of Stipendiary Stewards and the Chief Racecourse Inspector, Doth showed racing was being well administered.
