The Cabinet would iirfng down the proposals it considered to be demanded in the interest of the country,. regardless of the effect on the fortunes of its own party. The Minister said that .the' present unemployment'relief works • were opening up new areas, for settlement, and flint more could he done on these lines. A permanent remedy for unemployment, was to bring the idle, or partly-used lands, into-full use and occupation.
