A HOPEFUL OUTLOOK

Hon. Mr Ramson was met and welcomed by the Mayor and representatives of the districts at a gathering to-day. Regarding the report that the Wnirarapa Aero Club was to he deprived, under the Government’s economy campaign, of its promised subsidy,.lie-stated that he had been in touch with Mr Cobbe (Minister of Defence), - who had told him Wnirarapa Club would get the amount it had been-promised.
Touching on general politics Mr Ransom said he did not think the Alinority Government was badly placed to deal with the serious financial and other problems now raised. It must bring down sound legislative proposals because it could not hope otherwise to get the support of a majority in the House extra taxation was inevitable. The Cabinet would iirfng down the proposals it considered to be demanded in the interest of the country,. regardless of the effect on the fortunes of its own party. The Minister said that .the' present unemployment'relief works • were opening up new areas, for settlement, and flint more could he done on these lines. A permanent remedy for unemployment, was to bring the idle, or partly-used lands, into-full use and occupation.
