MANUKA WRECK EXPENDITURE

Frederick Vincent, a married man employed by the Tauranga Power Hoard, was overhauling a transformer yesterday on the Tomatai Road, Tepuke, and was standing on the lid, when lie received a shock. He fell to the ground, a distance of 17 feet. He received a severe shock, being burtlecl on the slfoiilder and oil the feet. He sustained head ahd mihor injuries ill falling. He was removed to TaUraliga Hospital, lug condition being serious.

A MOTOR COLLISION.

DUNEDIN, June 8

Leslie Hunt, aged 24 years, single residing at Pukeuri, was admitted to the Hospital on Saturday evening with a fractured thigh and a lacerated neck. The injuries were received when a bus on which lie was travelling, and which was returning to Palmerston from a football match at Dunback, was struck near Dunback by a car owned and driven by McGregor, df Palmerston.

Mary Parkin'll, a passenger in the car, was also admitted to the hospital with head injuries and a fractured rib.

John Henry May, aged 52, a cripple, was found banging in'a cowshed at his brother-in-law’s farm on Saturday afternoon. Suicide while of unsound mind, was the verdict of Coroner Dobson at the inquest.

WANGANUI, June 9

Jerry Hokopaura, a Maori, was fined £25 for being in a state of intoxication in charge of a motor-car, involved in an accident at Maxwell on April loth;, and £lO for negligent driving and £5 for offensive language. Magistrate Salmon also cancelled his license, not to be renewed for three years, He said that defendant in stating he had no liquor that day, only medicine for his heart, was a gross perjury, and instructed the police to make further investigations regarding liquor that day, and proceed further, if necessary.

TWO PEOPLE INJURED

DUNEDIN, June 9

Leslie Hunt, 24, single, was hospitalled on Saturday night with a broken thigh and lacerated neck. Mary Park well, a widow residing at Palmerston, was admitted at the same time with head injuries and broken rib. Both received injuries when a bus returning to Palmerston from Dunback was struck by a car.

The conference of the New Zealand Aero Club to-day discussed the formation of a New Zealand Aero Club It was decided to refer to the inccming committee the whole question of insurance. It was stated that the insurance companies had declined to consider any form of insurance for machines, but the view was expressed that they might he prepared to do business with a New Zealand body Lieut. Grant Dalton. Director of Air Services, made a statement in regard to Government and repair work. The Government had, lie said never bad the intention of repairing all machines where negligence had not been proved. r -le said he had had machines repaired but that was his mistake, and it had nothing to do with the Government. The Chairman Mr Hislop (Wellington) amid applause, said he was sure that all of the Clubs appreciated what r.ipiit Dalton had done in the interests of aviation.
